Questions & answers.

Does it work offline?

Yes — Chestfolio is offline-first. Your inventory, want list, and previously scanned cards are available without any internet connection. Card-show mode is explicitly designed for poor or nonexistent venue signal. Any changes you make sync automatically when you are back online.

Does it support Japanese cards?

Yes. We use TCGdex, which covers Japanese releases, promos, and regional exclusives across 14 languages — including sets that were never released in English. You can scan and catalog Japanese cards with the same speed and accuracy as English ones.

Can I export my data?

Always, and it is free on every tier — including the free plan. One tap exports your full collection as CSV or JSON. Your data is yours, period. This is not a Pro feature and it never will be. We watched what happened when TCG Card Dex shut down in 2023 and took collections with it.

What cards are supported?

Currently English and Japanese Pokémon TCG cards. Support for additional trading card games — Magic: The Gathering (via Scryfall), Lorcana, and One Piece — is planned for a future release.

Where do prices come from?

TCGplayer market data (via TCGCSV daily dumps) and Cardmarket trends on all tiers. eBay sold comps are available on the Pro plan. Every price display shows its source and timestamp — you always know where the number came from and how fresh it is.

How does the scanner handle unclear or beat-up cards?

When the confidence falls below our threshold, you see the top 3 most likely matches and pick the correct one. The app never tells you scan failed — it always gives you a path forward. For heavily damaged cards, manual search is always available.
